Ken Price was a primarily a ceramics artist, but also known for his numerous drawings and prints. A part of the original stable of artists from the famed Ferus Gallery, he was a prominent member of the California “Cool School” group that started in the 1960s. His inventive ceramics were abstract forms with colorful surface patterns, which were the result of sanding through many layers various paint colors. Price took a different approach to his drawings and prints, many of which depicted landscapes and cityscapes in a colorful, sometimes naughty, cartoonish style.
