Jo Baer has long been regarded as one of the premier Minimalist artists to emerge in the 1960s. At the time, she was known for creating subtle square paintings that had a white center bordered by both black and color line squares. Later in her career Jo Baer moved past pure abstraction, and began to introduce influences of prehistoric and classical objects, and their related forms.
